Thank you to Burford Lodge for a warm welcome to the Cotswold. It has been a wonderful experience which started by staying at Burford Lodge.Starting the day with a delicious breakfast and the owners were always on hand to give us ideas on where to visit. Exceptional.- Jo-Ann C
We had read mixed reviews but always like to pass judgement ourselves, upon arrival Andrea greeted us with a warm hello advised as to the lodges do’s and don’ts as to how to get back in when we would go out as there would not be anyone to let us back in , which was quite a quick explanation so maybe a information sheet in the room may help,she took the time we would like breakfast as there were allocated slots so as not to cause too many people at once , it is a 300 year old lodge so a lot of considerations need to be made , it does smell a bit musty when you first walk in we were taken to our room which wasa deluxe king room not sure we would call it deluxe as the rooms are quite small and if you were staying more than a few days it would be difficult as there is not anywhere really to store clothes only a few hangers on some hooks on the wall by the door. As other reviewers have said the water pressure is low and that seems to tie in with how many guests there are staying but it is manageable. The bed was ok but really needs a new mattress as when you sit on the bed you can feel the base so we did wake up a bit achy in the morning and this is not just because we were sleeping on a different bed. We also found a lot of dust when we went to plug in our chargers next to the bed and this was not just a new coating this has been here for some time so this area has been obviously overlooked for some time. The breakfasts were good a fare option to suit most the only thing I found was only one option of strawberry jam and I hate strawberries 😁 . The property is on a main road and our room was facing that and the traffic does lighten after about midnight but even with triple glazing I could still hear the traffic but I had taken note of some of the reviews and took ear plugs which did help to some extent. It is a B+B so the owners are not always there as I was going to raise these points with them as we left but I shouted for someone but no one was there so we just left our key on the desk. We would stay again if we was in that area but only if the mattress was newish. - Rebecca B
The staff here were so friendly and the room was very spacious and clean. Dolores was especially nice, serving us breakfast.- Kieran H
